Oil Debris Analysis
... is a cost saving process with a dual purpose.
The first purpose is to determine the condition of the lubricant. The advent of specialised synthetic
lubricants, their high purchase and disposal costs as well the safety and environmental issues involved
have created the demand for this service in the marketplace. Costly routine lubrication changes have become
a thing of the past and the emphasis in today’s environment is to obtain the maximum life from a lubricant
before it is changed.
The second purpose for oil debris analysis is to analyse the debris contained within the lubricant. The debris
will give an indication of machine or component wear, caused by an operating fault within the machine. The aim
is to diagnose and repair the fault before it becomes a problem.
